About Us

In 1999, Bert Morrow, President of Intravision, had ‘a vision for the future’, and designed the concept of a ‘one stop’ employment service targeting rural area communities and staffed by professional employment/career counsellors and certified career practitioners. Under the name ontrac Bert opened offices in Arnprior, and Smiths Falls. Based on the success and quality of the programs that Intravision provided, the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities granted Bert a contract to start and operate a new program. With support from both the Federal and Provincial governments in June 2010 Bert launched Lanark County’s Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW) under the name of New Directions.

One of the first things Bert did was hire Tony Gilchrist, an experienced employment counsellor, to run the program and one of the first things Tony did was hire Leslie Robilliard an experienced administrator. With Tony and Leslie handling the day to day operations and Bert as Executive Director, the program kicked off in June 2010. It was an instant hit and has exceeded all objectives and measurements of success.

Our program and roles have evolved with Leslie handling most of the intake and Tony doing job development with employers in Lanark County. As of April 30, 2014 we had registered 465 clients. Of those, 278 had accepted employment, we have written 128 subsidies for employers. To date 227 of our clients had entered a training program. All of our clients have a back to work action plan suited to their individual needs.

We can help, but you have to take the first step by giving us a call 613-284-4614, ask for Leslie or Tony.
